Gus and Nelie

Gus (black) is a boxer-pit bull terrier-greyhound-border collie mix who was thrown out of a car on a Colorado Interstate at the age of 3 months, and despite maltreatment loves everyone. He supports Bush and Cheney because they support individual initiative, which Gus frequently shows by climbing over his five-foot fence despite having full use of only three legs.

Nellie (brown) is a pit bull terrier surrendered to the local Humane Society because her owner went to jail (for undisclosed reasons). Nellie is an enthusiastic Dog Republican because she too is a member of an much-maligned group; and both Nellie and conservatives in general are willful, strong, and generous.

About the family

Gus and Nellie live with Laurel in Longmont, Colorado, and frequently entertain Laurel's brother Ward and his girlfriend Theresa. Two dogs require more than one human.
