Facing a consumer backlash, Apple said it would give a $100 store credit to early iPhone customers, many of whom were angered when the company slashed the price of the gadget by $200 just two months after it first went on sale. In a letter to customers, Apple CEO Steve Jobs defended the decision to cut the price, but apologized to customers.
