September 22, 2005jk Agrees WIth President CarterIf that ain't a sign of the apocalypse, I don't know what is. But the voter fraud commission headed by our 39th President and Secretary Baker is noteworthy. That a liberal of the pedigree of President Carter has admitted that fraudulent voting is not outweighed by tales of minority disenfranchisement is significant. An editorial in today's WSJ gives high marks to most of the panel's recommendations, but especially supports the ID requirement: The voter-ID recommendations are particularly noteworthy, however, because for decades the left has maintained that voter fraud isn't a problem. In fact, it's increased in recent years. Former New York Congresswoman Susan Molinari, who served on the commission, notes bluntly in the report that, "In 2004, elections in Washington state and Wisconsin were decided by illegal votes." She continues, "In other states, notably the states of Ohio and New York, voter rolls are filled with fictional voters like Elmer Fudd and Mary Poppins." This is a clear sign of national interest above politics, and I have accused President Carter of the opposite for several years. Politics Posted by John Kranz at September 22, 2005 10:54 AM |
