Saddam - Zarqawi Connection
Despite claims to the contrary, WMDs weren't the only reason that Iraq was invaded in 2003.
One of the reasons was because Saddam Hussein's regime supported terrorists.
Guys like Zarqawi.
Speaking in an interview with Saudi daily al-Hayat, [Jordanian King] Abdullah said Zarqawi, a Jordanian, is well entrenched in Iraq and that "he and terrorists like him thrive in such places where security and stability are non-existent."
Abdullah said Jordan was the first target for Zarqawi before he found safe haven in Iraq.
"Since Zarqawi entered Iraq before the fall of the former regime we have been trying to have him deported back to Jordan for trial, but our efforts were in vain," Abdullah added.
That's interesting. Zarqawi was in Iraq long enough for the Jordanians to find out,
and try to negotiate his deportation/extradition.

Thanks for this, Alex. I hadn't heard or read it anywhere before. Other recent reports, however, indicate we may soon be returning Zarqawi to Jordan - in a body bag.
On the WMD front, protest signs at Bush's commencement speech in Michigan read, "Unjust war, Unjustified invasion." I don't care how "unjustified" one thinks the invasion may have been, and it is arguable, but the war was completely justified. To say otherwise is to apologize for a murderous tyrant who looks bad in briefs.
